Albrighton Village Action Group (AVAG) was formed as an immediate response to Boningale Homes' announcement on 29th February 2024, of their proposals to build on Albrighton's Green Belt land. This overdevelopment would comprise 800+ houses which would have a devastating affect on our village and greatly reduce the separation with Boningale, a beautiful hamlet set in its own conservation area.
These proposals sparked significant concern and much anger among the residents of both areas as the scale of the plans became clear. The strength of community spirit emerging is remarkable and forms the backbone of the campaign.
This adhoc group of Albrighton and Boningale residents rapidly organised a core committee to create a campaign to oppose the plans. Committee members come from a diverse range of backgrounds, ages, and local contacts. Just as important they bring a wealth of skills and resources to the table. They also coordinate the vital support of local residents on specific tasks as needed. Hundreds of acts of generosity, and sheer hard work are the driving forces behind AVAG.
We maintain an open-door policy, welcoming new members at any time. If you can make time to help safeguard the future of our village, whether it is as an extra pair of hands for general tasks or if you can give more specialist advice and assistance we would like to hear from YOU today!
